Malayalam movie - Sufiyum Sujatayum
First of all, this is not a movie review. This is just me telling how I felt about the movie. Sufiyum Sujatayum is the first Malayalam film to do an exclusive OTT release. Aditi Rao Hydari, Dev Mohan and Jayasurya performed the lead roles in the movie and is directed my Naranipuzha Shanavas.
The movie is a musical feast where music director M. Jayachandran did a great job with the songs and the background score. The movie itself is a slow paced movie which has ingredients to bore the the viewers unless for the music and bgm. Cinematography is great which played a big part in keeping the viewers going without skipping the scenes. The story may be the weak point of the movie as it is a type of story that is felt like told many times before. The beauty of the love story is well portrayed through music and visuals.
Aditi who performed the role of Sujata as a mute girl, did a extraordinary job with her performance. Dev Mohan, a fresh face, did justice to his role with subtle expressions and smile. Jayasurya, who don't have much role in the movie did a decent job, nothing extra ordinary. Siddique, who performed as Sujata's dad, did well as always (I'm a big Siddique fan 🥰).
At the end of the movie, in my mind there was a comparison to Ennum Ninte Moideen movie, may be due to the similar story type, even though the movies as are totally at different levels. My wife loved the movie as it is in the genre of movies she like, for me its an average movie with excellent music and you won't regret if you like love stories.
